INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION - COST ACTION CA15107
International cooperation - COST action CA15107 - Multi-Functional Nano-Carbon Composite Materials Network (MultiComp)
MultiComp is a COST campaign designed to bring together theorists, experimenters and industrialists in the field of nano-carbon materials technology. Although carbon nanotubes, graphene and low-layer graphene (FLG) have been used to improve the properties of composite materials, two main problems need to be addressed before these composite materials can reach their full potential: (1) adequate dispersion of nano-carbon reinforcing material and (2) ) a sufficiently strong interfacial bond between the nano-carbon reinforcing elements and the composite matrix. In addition to the production of modified MWNTs, such as branched MWNTs, the campaign will explore other options for strengthening composites by incorporating FLG (using existing and unpublished methods); theoretical modeling of these nano-carbons and composites; proper consideration and assessment of the consequences for health, safety and the environment; fabrication and testing of composites, e.g. mechanical and electrical / thermal, HRTEM interphase, voltage contrast SEM percolation networks, perceptual and photocatalytic properties; development of new composite materials with electronic and multifunctional properties. This campaign will provide an ideal platform, notably through STSM exchanges, for established researchers, postdoctoral fellows and ECIs to improve their research-related skills as well as their innovation and entrepreneurial skills in this international network involving academic and business companies. .
