SUMMARY OF THE LECTURE

Industry 4.0, Internet of Things and Digitalization are buzzwords used everywhere. These topics will have a big influence on companies worldwide over the next years.
But what do these words mean for the plastics industry and why do we need a smart production? Megatrends show that the production of plastic parts has to be more flexible and efficient. Digital technologies are enablers for a smart production and can help to produce more flexibly and efficiently. User-friendly controls,  manufacturing execution systems and standardized interfaces are ways to improve transparency over the injection molding process and thus help to manage quality, energy and costs. The talk will show with use cases like the “Smart Luggage Tag” how a smart production can be implemented with today’s technology and how future technology might further advance the smart production.
The presentation will include some references to Arburg's Manufacturing Execution System ALS, where Mr. Kreidler will be supported by Bojan Žižek.

ABOUT THE LECTURER
