Welcome

Plastic gears conference aims to bring together theorists, experimentalists and industrialists in the field of polymer gears research as well as applications. The conference will be held from 17th to 18th June 2021 at the Faculty of Polymer Technology (FTPO) in Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia. We hope to provide a venue for discussions between scientists and engineers from academia and industry, bridging fundamental and applied aspects of the polymeric gears.

Due to the unfortunate Covid-19 situation, the conference will be organised as a hybrid conference (online and onsite). The situation in Slovenia is getting better and we hope that in June it will be even better, in Slovenia as well as in other parts of the world. However, we suggest checking the status of your country and Slovenia frequently, to avoid unnecessary travelling complications.

All official information regarding Coronavirus disease COVID-19 available here.
For border crossing information check here.

The conference is organised within a project MAPgears: Advanced materials, methodologies and technologies for the development of lightweight power transmission components for drives technology. The project is co-funded by the Republic of Slovenia - Ministry of Education, Science and Sport - and the European Union – European Regional Development Fund.

Topics

The topics will cover all areas which are important in polymer gears production:
  • Simulations
  • Materials
  • Innovative processing
  • Tools
  • Characterisation (gears, materials)
  • Tribology
  • Applications

Program

The conference will be organised as a hybrid with onsite and online lectures. MS Teams platform will be used. Since not all participants are familiar with MS Teams, all the lecturers will obtain a trial link a few days before the conference, so they can test giving presentation and get help if needed. Here is a link with basic instructions on how to join the meeting for all participants.

Venue

Conference Plastic gears will be held at the Faculty of Polymer Technology in Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia.

How to get there?

By car:
The easiest way is by car. Slovenj Gradec is located in a beautiful valley in north-east of Slovenia, 120 km from the capital city, Ljubljana. At the highway, Ljubljana-Maribor, take the exit ŽALEC and continue in a direction Velenje, Slovenj Gradec. Drive carefully, also because there is a stationary radar in the centre of Velenje, and police are measuring speed regularly in several places (Paka pri Velenju, Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu,…).

By plane:
The transport from the Ljubljana airport (Airport Jože Pučnik) can be booked by GoOpti. The other airports in the vicinity are Zagreb (Croatia) and Graz (Austria) but it might be a bit inconvenient to come to Slovenj Gradec. However, GoOpti is offering transport from those airports as well. If several of you come at approximately the same time we might help to organise transport.

By train
The nearest train station is Velenje. If you get there we will organise the transport to Slovenj Gradec, just let us know in advance.
