Different materials have higher or lower moisture contents, which depends on structure of the material, on the temperature to which the material is exposed, on the humidity in the air and on the other environmental effects. Materials can be moistened from direct contact with water (construction materials in humid atmosphere or because of exposure to the precipitation). Water is transported in materials due to capillary pull, absorption, diffusion, osmosis and some other mechanisms.
Computer assisted analytical device for measuring moisture is a device with which moisture can be removed from the material with drying at constant temperature (105 °C). Material is dried to constant mass and thus moisture in the material can be determined.
